Lecture "The sex of angels: escaping the binary concept of biological sex"

[Spanish, intro in Valencian]

I delivered a lecture at València University after my proposal won an ideas contest organised by the university's Equality Unit.

In the lecture, I dwelt in a non-specialised level in the concept of biological sex and how it has been constructed as a binary, while scientific evidence argues it can be better understood as a spectrum.

Small talk "Ageing, Alzheimer's disease and alternative splicing"

My abstract was selected to present a short talk at the PRISMA Conference 2020, a venue that aims to create a safespace for LGBTQIA+ people working in STE(A)M fields. The talk explains in a non-technical register some of the main implications of alternative splicing in ageing in general and Alzheimer's disease in particular.

Special episode on the podcast

"How to make a scientist"

I participated on a "How to make a scientist", a podcast supported by the Biochemical Society that aims to celebrate diversity in STEM and "bring emotion and identity back to Science".
In the episode, we try to present the diversity of cell populations of the brain in a funny way by comparing them to Taylor Swift's albums.

Scape road "A quest for Nobel and
non-Nobel women scientists"

I collaborated in the organisation and conducting of a  "Scape road" activity aimed to primary school and high school students, to promote the role of women scientists in Science, as part of the European Researchers' Night.

Twitter thread promoting

my published work

[Spanish]

Twitter thread explaining our findings on my latest research work to  a broad, non-specialised audience, in order to make scientific knowledge available to the general public and generate curiosity.

Collaboration on an episode on the podcast

"Carne Cruda"  [Spanish]

I participated on the episode "Trans: what does Science have to say?", on a nation-wide podcast. I was interviewed on the scientific evidence for the recognition of sex self-determination as a human right and the safety and efficacy of Hormone Replacement Therapy.

Volunteer Work & Activism

Helping to build a better world for everyone

My work: Volunteer Work

April 2020 - Present

PRISMA member, actively participating on Education and Research workgroups

I have been a very active member of PRISMA since I first joined the Association. PRISMA is a non-profit organisation that advocates for gender and sexual/affective diversity
in STE(A)M fields.

January 2021 - Present

Chairperson of the PRISMA Conference organising committee

I coordinate a group of 9 people in the organisation of an event that is hosted annually in different universities across Spain, creating a safespace for people within the LGBTQIA+ community to share their work.

April 2021 - Present

Member of the Equality Workgroup at CBMSO

I participated on the launching of the Equality Workgroup at my Research Centre, which contributes to ensure gender equality in all the spheres of our worklife and that specific mechanisms to ensure equal rights for everyone are put in place.

June 2021

Contribution to PRISMA's white paper "Science against HIV,

everyone against serophobia"

[Spanish]

I collaborated as part of the scientific team that ellaborated the white paper where we make information related to
HIV biology, treatment and social stigma available for everyone,
as part of PRISMA's Pride Campaign

July 2020

Contribution to PRISMA's white paper on Sex self-determination

[Spanish]

I participated in the creation and publication of a white paper stating the scientific evidence for sex self-determination as a human right, in the context of the Spanish Law consultation phase.
